Glenn Sorokan – Coach, Co-Owner

Education/Certifications: CF L1 & L2, CF Sport Specific Application Cert, B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering (UofA ’98)

I have been doing CrossFit officially for over 6 years. Unofficially, for over 9 years with a mix of workouts I stole from My wife, Shannon, introduced me and now I am hooked. Call me a CrossFit snob. CrossFit is a huge part of my life.

My athletic background is all-rounded. Mainly playing baseball, hockey and tennis growing up. I love mountain biking. I like to live a healthy, pain free life. I am an L2 trainer and am constantly on the hunt for more knowledge and to help out the athletes in the gym. Knowledge about CrossFit, Olympic lifting, running, gymnastics, nutrition and recovery. You have a question – ask – if I do not know, I will do my best to find out the answer. The key is consistency and you will see results.

I became a coach because I believe in CrossFit; I believe in the people; I believe in the strong community it creates. And because I have knowledge and skills that can help.

My CrossFit goals are to maintain my strength and fitness as I age. I want to keep ahead of our young members as long as I can!

I am passionate about CrossFit and I want to help anyone in my realm of influence to become passionate too. Let’s embark on this journey together.

I hope to meet you soon.

Favourite movement? Anything on the rings.  Heavy weightlifting.

Least Favourite movement? Box jumps.  Burpees!

Shannon Horricks – Coach, Co-Owner, Nutrition Coach & Mentor

Education/Certifications: CF L1 & L2, B.Ed. (UofA ’00), Precision Nutrition L2,

I began CrossFitting in May 2012. I came to CrossFit from ultra and marathon running, teaching group fitness classes and the typical five-day split strength training program. Growing up, I played basketball, volleyball and competitive fastball. Currently, my husband and I enjoy spending time on the trails mountain biking.

My favorite thing about CrossFit is how it constantly challenges me. When I first began CrossFit my goal was to do an unassisted pull up. I remember my first WOD doing pull ups RX’ed – Helen! My goals keep adapting and changing as I reach my goals. However, I’m not sure I will ever truly “enjoy” wall balls.

Coaching gives me the opportunity to help people do things they never thought they could do, to reach goals and to improve their quality of life. I see each of you as athletes, capable of great things.

How long have you been crossfitting? Off and on since 2012.

What brought you to CrossFit?

I was looking for a change. I really enjoy team sports and I loved the physical results I got while doing bodybuilding workouts at the “globo” gym and fitness centre. CrossFit is a nice blend of both.

Athletic Background: Competitive / Club soccer since I was 16. Played AMSL for a few years. Senior “A” hockey. Coached youth soccer but stopped because some Soccer parents are cray.

Favourite movement? Anything on the rings. Anything bodyweight, really. And coffee with the 930 squad.

Least Favourite movement? Air Assault bike and BACK SQUATS!!

Why I love coaching….

I love the energy the athletes bring when they come to the gym. I can see that for many of them, this is the highlight of their day.

I love watching the slow, steady, measurable progress our athletes make; it’s not about the physical “first” HSPU or bodyweight clean and jerk- it’s the change in mindset. That shift in thinking “no, I can’t because (insert excuse here) to “yes, I CAN if I (insert measurable action plan and follow through) is contagious and worth catching. This is why I coach. And if I’m lucky, I get to come along for the ride J

Other ways I stay active…

I still play soccer in the old ladies’ league and play co-ed ice hockey when I can. I like to pretend that I’m a weightlifter and sometimes I accidently enter contests.

Favorite “treat” meal…

Gotta be McD’s. Go on and judge me lol

Anything else??

I may not remember your first name the first time, but deep down, aren’t we all “Sandra”?

Pic coming soon…..

Why I love coaching…. As a coach, I am grateful to witness how CrossFit empowers, inspires and motivates the athletes who come CFSP’s doors. It’s my goal to be the best coach I can be, inspire others to challenge their physical limits and feel accomplished, proud and wanting more! It gives me great satisfaction when I see people get results and reach their goals.

Other ways I stay active… Chasing after cats, mountain biking, watching CrossFit YouTube videos (totally makes you more fit doing this).

  1. Hi
I’m just wondering if you have some classes for beginners. I’m currently doing 360 program next door to you, I will be finished with the program in 2 weeks. Also I’m interested in getting punch passes but could you also let me know what the membership costs are?
    Thank you
    Rashmi valk

  2. Hey I was just wondering if there is any beginner classes? If so what time would they take place. I was also wondering if there are different classes for different ages?

    1. Hi Chris,

As of right now, sadly, no. We have had only very few people ask about an earlier time. This time slot is not off the table for the future, however.

      Thanks for the email.
